In the name of Allah, most Gracious and most Merciful. Allah Almighty is the Creator of this world and everything exists in it. It is important to know the Asmaul Husna and attributes of Allah Almighty. Knowing Allah makes a person love and fear Him, and put his hope in Him, and be sincere towards Him in his actions. There is no way to know Allah except by knowing His Most Beautiful Names and seeking a proper understanding of their meanings. For Muslims, the most glorious names are the 99 names of Allah. Muslims need to familiarize himself or themselves with the names of the Almighty Allah. Always remembering the name of Allah SWT means the believer will carry out his/her actions with sincerity. It is beneficial for one to know the unique and beautiful names of Allah. The extent to which a slave knows Allah’s Names and Attributes determines the extent of his submission to Allah, his love for Him, and the pleasure that he finds in Allah’s company.

When a person involves himself with learning about Allah Almighty, he is doing what he was created for, but if he ignores the matter, he is neglecting what he was created for.  We as Muslims should make the effort to learn about Allah through His beautiful Names and Attributes. The more we learn about our Lord, the more we increase in faith in Him.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said about the Asmaul Husna: “Allah has 99 names. Whoever memorizes and embraces (ihsa) these qualities will enter heaven” (Bukhari). The verse of the Holy Quran says about the 99 Names of Allah: “The most beautiful names belong to Allah: so call on Him by them; but shun such men as use profanity in His names: for what they do, they will soon be requited” (Surah al-Araf: 180). The above verse of the Holy Quran warns us that attaching meanings that are not right to the Creator and comparing other things with Allah Almighty or giving attributes which describe His names to anything other than Him is seen as “going down the wrong path with regard to the Asmaul Husna.”

Knowledge of the Beautiful Names of Allah grants the Mu’min comfort when calamities befall him. If the slave is aware that his Lord is All-Knowing, Wise and Just, then that slave will feel contented and will exhibit patience in the time of difficulty. If he is aware that the trials that are befalling him are beneficial to him in ways that he cannot grasp, and that they are the result of the knowledge and wisdom of Allah Almighty, the slave of Allah will become at peace with His Lord and surrender all his affairs to Him. Muslims can recitations of Asmaul Husna daily when asking for blessings, long life, protection, comfort, excellent health, and other good things in this life and the Hereafter. Also, as each of the Beautiful Names comes with its meaning, the names can be invoked for particular blessings. Muslims should recite Allah’s Names daily in their Salah for protection, good health, comfort, & wealth etc.
